The AgriBank District Farm Credit Council (ADFCC) has presented its 2021 Friend of Farm Credit Award to U.S. Sen. John Hoeven of North Dakota.

Hoeven, a member of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee and Committee on Appropriations, received the award for his important work on behalf of rural communities, agriculture and the Farm Credit System, a national network of customer-owned cooperatives. ADFCC members recently were in Washington as part of a National Farm Credit Fly-in to meet with members of Congress about issues important to farmers and ranchers.

"We appreciate the leadership Sen. Hoeven has provided throughout his service in the U.S. Senate,” said Allen Roshau, a rancher from Dickinson, N.D., who is the Farm Credit Services of Mandan board representative at the ADFCC and chair of the North Dakota Farm Credit Council. “His leadership is critical to the well-being of agriculture and rural communities across the country. He is a long-time advocate for robust agriculture and risk-management programs. And, he was a critical voice for farmers as COVID relief programs, particularly the Paycheck Protection Program, were developed.”

“Events of the past year in particular have reinforced what some of us have known all along—that our farmers and ranchers provide the  food, fuel and fiber that we all depend on every single day,” Hoeven said. “Farm lenders play a critical role in the agriculture economy,  and it is an honor to receive this award. As a senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee and Ranking Member of the Senate  Agriculture Appropriations Committee, I remain committed to ensuring agriculture producers have the tools they need to produce the  world’s highest quality, lowest cost food supply.”

Farm Credit Services of Mandan is one of 14 Farm Credit Associations that comprise the AgriBank District along with AgriBank. The  ADFCC represents Farm Credit farmers and ranchers in a 15-state area from Wyoming to Ohio and Minnesota to Arkansas. About half  the nation's cropland is located within the AgriBank District.
