Farm Credit Announces Latest Grants to Support Western North Dakota Communities

ST. PAUL, Minn., December 9, 2025 — Today, Farm Credit organizations in western North Dakota announced 18 grants totaling $392,926 through the Rural Community Grant Fund, supporting valuable programs designed to enhance the quality of life in local communities.

The fund was established as a partnership between AgCountry Farm Credit Services and Farm Credit Services of Mandan – the two largest providers of agricultural loans in western North Dakota – and AgriBank, their St. Paul, Minn.-based funding bank, to help communities impacted by mineral development.

“The Rural Community Grant Fund continues to play an important role in supporting areas impacted by oil exploration in the Bakken region of western North Dakota,” says Mark Vetter, EVP of Business Development at AgCountry. “We intend to continue supporting these communities and providing funding to address critical needs such as health, safety, and emergency services,” he adds.

The latest grants include:

  • $50,000 to Powers Lake School for a classroom expansion
  • $39,697 to Killdeer Area Ambulance Service for an ambulance power load cot upgrade
  • $38,797 to Burlington Rural Fire Department for a firetruck acquisition
  • $30,000 to South Heart Fire Department for a training room renovation
  • $25,000 to Bowman Fire Department for turnout gear update
  • $25,000 to St. Luke’s Medical Center for technology cabling upgrade
  • $25,000 to Mountrail Bethel Home, Inc. for patient beds
  • $20,000 to Dickinson Fire Department for emergency response equipment
  • $20,000 to Dickinson Police Department for critical incident armor upgrade
  • $20,000 to County of Billings DBA Billings County Ambulance Service for ambulance power load cot replacement
  • $20,000 to Richardton Rural Fire Protection District for turnout gear upgrade
  • $20,000 to University of Mary for staff transport vehicle
  • $10,650 to Burke County for Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
  • $10,000 to Coal Country Community Health Center for radiology equipment
  • $10,000 to Military Affairs Committee Williston Basin for a veteran memorial monument
  • $10,000 to Bowbells Senior Citizens for community center roofing upgrade
  • $9,782 to Billings County Rural Fire Protection District for firefighting equipment
  • $9,000 to Pick City Fire Department for wildland gear upgrade

The Rural Community Grant Fund is accepting applications for programs that meet the needs of local communities impacted by expanded mineral exploration and production in western North Dakota.
