Pasture, Rangeland, Forage (PRF) Insurance is a crop insurance program focused on covering livestock producers from losses due to drought. PRF replaces income from yield losses caused by low precipitation relative to a historic average on forage produced for grazing or harvesting hay.
PRF is an area-based program, meaning coverage is based on the average precipitation in a specific geographic area, rather than the individual producer’s land.
PRF is customizable. Producers control several decisions, including coverage level, index intervals, irrigated practice, productivity factor, and number of acres.
It can be difficult to pick the right coverage months for PRF. Our insurance officers use our exclusive technology to help you find the best coverage periods for your farm to make PRF work for you.
